Our first piece of young talent we’re going to be looking at is Manchester City’s very own Marcos ‘Rony’ Lopes. Lopes was born in Brazil before moving to Portugal at the age of four, where he was picked up by Benfica in 2006, at the age of 10. Lopes spent the best part of five years in the youth development programme at Benfica before making the switch to Manchester City in 2011, since his arrival in Manchester, Marcos has worked his way up the ranks, and towards the end of the 2013/14 season, was arguably on the fringes of the first team at the age of 18, with a number of impressive performances under his belt.

During the summer of 2014, Marcos was sent out on loan to French Ligue 1 side, Lille OSC in pursuit of regular first team football, and all the thrill that a league campaign and cup run can provide. Marcos is set to light up Ligue 1 over the course of the 2014/15 season where he most likely to receive a healthy chunk of game time playing his preferred, versatile No.10 role. However last season for the blues his true talent shined over during his cameo FA and Capital One cup appearances, where he managed to pick up a couple of assists on the way to City’s Capital One Cup triumph. Judging from appearances for Manchester City, it is clear that Marcos Lopes is definitely a ‘rising star’ and one to watch for the future. So, does Rony get your vote?
