The finalists for the MBNA Northwest Football Awards Player of the Year and Rising Star Award categories, which are voted for by football fans, have been announced.
Philippe Coutinho and Gareth Barry are set to go head-to-head for the Premier League Player of the Year at the 2016 MBNA Northwest Football Awards, after being shortlisted as finalists alongside Kevin De Bruyne and David De Gea.
Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford, who scored on both his Manchester United and England debuts at the age of just 18, is one of seven finalists in the Rising Star of the Year category.
The success of Manchester City’s all-conquering Women’s team also sees both Isobel Christiansen and Georgia Stanway nominated for the Women’s Player of the Year and Women’s Rising Star of the Year, respectively. They will face counterparts from Everton and Liverpool Women’s teams in both categories.
The MBNA Northwest Football Awards celebrate all things good in the region’s football from grass roots to the Premier League, treatment table to the Boardroom and have grown year-on-year in popularity due to their inclusive approach to the game in the region.
In total, 22 clubs received nominations and the winners will be announced at this year’s glitzy, black tie Awards ceremony at the Point, Emirates Old Trafford on Monday, 14th November.
